Pollard Thomas Edwards were approached in 2021 to produce a new Design Guide for all new council funded housing in Cambridge.

The guidance is structured using the 10 Characteristics of a Well Designed Place, helping to show how a good integrated design approach can create sustainable and attractive places – beyond just technical compliance. This includes thinking beyond the site boundaries, incorporating nature, and making social connections.

PTE worked closely with the Cambridge housing team and local planners to develop and agree the content of the guidance, which represents a significant uplift in both placemaking standards and sustainability requirements.

This Guide sets out a clear statement of our aspiration for developing quality homes and new communities.
