Abbey Area in Camden granted planning permission for 240 new homes

12.11.13

PTE on behalf of their client the London Borough of Camden, has been granted planning permission for 240 new homes in three phases. Phase 1 has been granted detailed planning consent, phases 2 and 3 outline consent. The site includes the Abbey Co-op Estate in Kilburn and lies around the junction of Abbey Road and Belsize Road, with the West Coast rail line to Euston forming the boundary to the south. The scheme is part of the Council’s Community Investment Programme (CIP), a long-term programme to use the Council’s assets to improve, shape and transform key places and services within Camden, whilst simultaneously addressing a critical capital funding gap. At Abbey Area we will create 241 new mixed tenure homes, including 15 mews houses, substantial space for commercial and community uses, and a new health centre. Kaye Stout, Director at PTE said "Our scheme will transform the streetscape of this busy area of Camden and create a new community hub, as well as a range of housing for local residents – and as a key project in Camden’s Community Investment Programme, all this will be achieved on an entirely self-funding basis."
