Deptford Lounge has been awarded a commendation at the Structural Steel Design Awards which were announced on the 11 July 2012. PTE’s scheme combines a state-of-the-art public library with community facilities and forms a new focal point for the local community. One of the Judges who praised the project commented “Careful design and attention to detail...have led to a genuinely flexible, vibrant and striking hub for Deptford. Steelwork is key to this remarkably successful building”. The Structural Steel Design Awards is now in its 44th year and celebrates the excellence of the United Kingdom in the field of steel construction, particularly demonstrating its potential in terms of efficiency, cost effectiveness, aesthetics, sustainability and innovation.
