The third phase and final piece of the masterplan jigsaw, sees the provision of 139 high-quality new homes of mixed tenure, commercial space, residential gardens and improved streetscape. Located across the busy the junction from Phase 1, it is surrounded by three conservation areas. This final phase provides an opportunity to bring the qualities of the conservation areas to the junction and improve public realm, whilst activating the street level with commercial space and ground floor homes.
The family of three blocks proposed are positioned and orientated to pull back from the street to provide breathing space and new public realm, with secure resident gardens to the rear. The breaks between the buildings allow these spaces to connect visually. Building on the positive transformation of the previous phases (141 homes in Phase 1), Phase 3 reflects the rich history of the surrounding context but cleverly entwines this design narrative with a highly efficient, stacking, repeating, elegant set of buildings that work hard for their money, promoting buildability and ease of procurement. Phase 3 achieved planning consent in Oct 2022 (unanimous and with no objections received).
