Replacing an existing care home that has become impractical, this new comprehensive redevelopment provides exemplary care for older people with dementia. The vision of the scheme is to provide a home with a small ‘h’, and to maximise connections with the natural environment, with well-lit internal spaces and connections to the existing mature landscape. After exploring various options on the plans to achieve these ends, the completed scheme orientates the internal bedroom layout to maximise daylight and views to the outside for the bedrooms.

The new scheme delivers 116 resident rooms along with social spaces for gatherings, an activity kitchen, café, therapy rooms and quiet areas for the residents.

PTE provided a full service from concept to planning. P+HS Architects were the delivery architect.

Hammerson House has been designed to fulfil our vision of providing the innovative, high standard of care that is required for the needs of our residents for now and in the future.
